Move with Me

What is Move With Me?

Move With Me combines the best of our historic Walk With Me event and our Virtual Detour from last year! It is a month-long, all-inclusive opportunity for all of our supporters to get creative with how they move to raise awareness and funds for the important programs at Easterseals MA. We end the effort with an in-person celebration, The Final Lap, where we can come together in celebration of our efforts and all that we love about Easterseals!

Starting on July 1st, individuals and teams can use our Calendar of Suggestions or get creative and: Roll, Meditate, Canoe, Bike, Draw, Stroll, Lift, Dog-walk, Corn Hole, Paint and yes, Walk in support of Easterseals MA (ESMA). Our new Just Giving Platform provides easy links to social media, so that you can keep track of your progress and inform your donors of all of your efforts. It makes creating a team or fundraising page a snap! Click below for more information.

The Evolution of Walk With Me

1993| The Walk With Me event is born.

The first Walk With Me event was held at Brandeis University in 1993. New England Patriot, Steve Grogan and WBZ Steve Burton Emceed the 24 hour relay and “Fred the Baker” who was normally busy reminding people that it was “time to make the donuts” started the relay for over hundreds of supporters. Our own DJ Vinny spun tunes for the first time and several companies started their long and charitable relationship with Easterseals MA, including Friendly, Home Depot, Quality Beverage and more. The 24 hour relays continued for 7 years. That’s a lot of miles logged for Easterseals MA!

2020| Having to take the Walk With Me event virtual and into the neighborhoods and personal gyms of all of our supporters, afforded us the opportunity to make the event more inclusive for our clients and get creative with the ways that we could “Move” in support of all the Easterseals Massachusetts programs we love. Our supporters, rolled, lifted, canoed, played cornhole, hand cycled, did yoga and yes, walked to raise funds and awareness!

The new millennium brought about change to the Walk With Me event. Instead of one 24 hour relay, the Walk multiplied and were held in various cities on different days across The Commonwealth. Some of the cities represented were: Springfield, Worcester, Boston, Bridgewater, Wakefield and Northampton. Eventually, these were pared down to three: Boston, Springfield and Worcester. This was the tradition until 2020, the year that changed everything.

2021| The future certainly looks bright this year. We have taken the best of the Virtual Detour; a month of finding creative ways to move, a new and easy-to-use fundraising platform and a list of creative suggestions on how to Move and combined it with the fun of an in-person “Final Lap” at which we can come together and celebrate all the creative ways we found to move and learn about all that is new at Easterseals. There will be music, food, prizes, family and friends.
