YOUTH TRANSITION CONSULTATION AND TRAINING SERVICES
Easter Seals Youth Transition Consultation and Training provides innovative, collaborative assistance to schools, ensuring the student’s smooth transition from school to employment and post-secondary adult living.
Easter Seals expertise
- Experienced in all levels of secondary school administration
- Involved in education at the local, regional, state and national levels
- Knowledgeable about the legislative and regulatory environments of education in Massachusetts
Consultation
- Collaboration with high school educators and IEP teams on the promotion of successful transition
- Observation of the school setting and student record review in order to recommend system-wide improvements across all transition services based on Massachusetts DESE educational requirements
- Coordination of the student’s Transition Portfolio, Transition Planning Form and Summary of Performance
- Utilization of the Transition Planning Checklist
- Identification of appropriate career and vocational development activities and functional life skill opportunities
- Observation of the classroom dynamics between educators and students to recommend enhancement of interpersonal communication, interaction and classroom management
- Recommendations for a coordinated set of activities that are results-oriented and focused on the functional achievement and academic preparation of transition-aged youth with disabilities

Easter Seals will work with schools to tie all recommendations to appropriate transition regulations and indicators, ensuring that students gain the skills necessary to meet their post-secondary goals.
