After serving 6 years in the U.S. Army as a cannon crew member Alex found himself in a series of dead-end jobs. He knew he wanted to work in the area of social services, specifically assisting veterans, but was not sure how to make that career a reality. When Alex connected with Easterseals Bob Hope Veterans Support Program he received the assistance needed to get on the path for a solid job.
Alex is now a Peer Support Specialist with a USC program for veterans. In fact, USC waived the bachelor’s degree requirement to hire him based on his prior experience, thanks to Easterseals advocating on his behalf. Alex is also a student at a local Cal State University and is working to get his bachelor’s degree in Human Services.
“I am very thankful for Easterseals and my Employment Specialist. They provided great mentorship and guidance for me. They really assisted me with transitioning my military experience to a civilian job. I am very happy and content.”
