La Shawn
La Shawn retired from the U.S. Navy as a Religious Program Specialist after 26 years of service. During her time in the military she received two degrees—an MBA and a master’s in Healthcare Administration. With her level of education she thought she would quickly find civilian employment, but it was not the case. As she struggled to find a job, La Shawn was connected with Easterseals Bob Hope Veterans Support Program.

- Provided one-on-one support from an Employment Specialist to help her develop a plan
- Connected her with resources to get her certification in medical billing and coding
- Helped her build a resume and interview skills
Job Success
La Shawn now works as a Clinic Manager at a health and dental center and also serves as an adjunct professor in healthcare administration at a private college in San Diego.
