CDCs Expand in North San Diego County

Children's Services recently expanded with the opening of three new Child Development Centers (CDCs) which now provide services to 280 pre-school children with center-based and home-based Head Start programs in the cities of Encinitas and Solana Beach.

“It’s wonderful getting to know the parents and the kids,” said Marilyn Rodriguez, Encinitas Head Start Family Support Worker. “We want the parents to get involved and they’re excited to be involved and to have our resources available to them.”

The centers provide educational and physical activities, along with nutrition and parenting support that allows children to gain skills and confidence they need for a successful transition into kindergarten.

“The community has truly embraced us and I’m excited we’ll be able to reach even more kids and families with our services,” said Karen Rojas, Family Service Manager.

The expansion in North San Diego County complements the services Easter Seals already provides to more than 700 children and their families in N. San Diego County, the Inland Empire and Ventura.
