Paul Embraces Community Living

Paul

Paul Maldonado lived almost his entire life in an institution. For 40 years, starting when he was 7, Paul lived at a state-run developmental center.

In 2011 he transitioned to living in a local Southern California community. He now lives in a 4-bedroom, 2-bath home with three housemates and full support from Easter Seals Living Options staff.  “From his first visit to this house, Paul wanted to stay,” says Residential Administrator Sola Fadipe. These days Paul lives a full life that includes a job providing help at an office, chatting regularly with his neighbors and social activities. “His life is not so restrictive anymore,” Fadipe says.

Easter Seals Living Options provides several programs that support individuals to live independently in their own homes or with family, instead of institutions.  Learn more about Living Options.
