The first three years of a child’s life can have a decisive, long-lasting impact. Easterseals Midwest’s Early Childhood Services create nurturing environments that educate and include children of all abilities. Our goal is to partner with families and communities to promote a bright future for each child — as a team, we work together to develop a custom plan to meet your family’s needs.
Children thrive best in an environment where play-based learning can develop each child’s individual strengths. In our Early Childhood Center, children with and without disabilities, from birth to five years old, learn and play together. Our program is designed to provide the optimal setting for successful learning and development, and features the following:
*This service is only available in Kansas City, MO.
Our Early Childhood Academy is a unique, hybrid program specifically designed to teach children with autism, ages 18 months to five years old, to interact with their peers and learn in a group setting. The Academy staff members also support parents through in-home visits that promote their child’s progress.
*Early Childhood Academy is currently available in St. Louis and Columbia, Missouri.
SEALS is a special intensive ABA therapy program for children with autism. This is an ongoing program that prepares children, ages three to six years old, to learn in a group setting and teaches them how to interact with their peers. SEALS is only offered in Columbia, Missouri.
Home Visiting Services offer a range of resources for families, including certified parent educators who visit homes to provide additional support. Home Visiting Services also include developmental screenings for children, service recommendations, and free support for families with young children with and without disabilities, from birth to 36 months old. Families also have the opportunity to meet other families and children through playgroups and events.
Easterseals provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), occupational, music, and speech therapies. Early intervention therapists work with families to assist each child’s development and offer education and support for parents. Families choose the setting that works best: home, our Early Childhood Center, or a mutually agreed upon location.
Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that affects communication, social behavior, and development. Autism affects one in 59 children in the United States, but with early diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral techniques, children with autism can live full, rewarding lives in the community. At Easterseals, we customize our services to meet each individual’s and family’s need for support.
We have programs throughout the regions we serve that offer support for families impacted by autism. These programs are available in the following regions:
