Like all of you, Easterseals Midwest has been working hard to respond to the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Here are a few things we want to be sure you know:
We're here for everyone who counts on us.
Easterseals staff is continuing to provide direct support to individuals who need us every hour of every day. Though we've temporarily suspended a limited number of programs and activities, rest assured that those who count on us for their most essential needs continue to have our full support.
We're doing everything we can to keep the people we support, their families and our staff healthy and safe.
The spread of coronavirus is scary, but we can all take steps to reduce our risk and the risk to those around us. At Easterseals, we've made changes throughout our organization based on recommendations from health authorities, including limiting access to our offices and asking staff to work remotely when possible.
We've postponed all upcoming events.
We know all of you are having to make similar decisions in your life and work. For Easterseals, so far, this has meant canceling seven fundraising and family events. Fundraising dollars are critical to Easterseals - they help us pay staff, our bills, and provide services to people who count on us. We're hopeful we can reschedule these events but will continue to do what's best for the health of our community during this time.
We're still hiring.
Did you know that Easterseals Midwest has more than 1,700 employees? For several years now, we've had a shortage of staff in our Community Living program, and this crisis is putting more pressure on our team as they deal with schools being closed and caring for loved ones. So, please - if you or someone you know is looking for a job where they can make a positive impact every day - send them our way. We're using the phone and online interviews, virtual training, and limiting the size of in-person training to ensure the health and safety of staff and job applicants.
We're grateful for your support!
Support from people like you makes everything we do possible. If you're in a position to make a gift to Easterseals during this uncertain time, we hope that you'll consider it. And of course, we hope you'll join us at one of our rescheduled events soon.
