COVID-19 Update (4/17/2020)

A message from our CEO, Wendy Sullivan

Team,

First, we hope this message finds you safe, healthy, and well.

Easterseals staff are essential health workers, and as you know, we follow CDC recommendations to keep our team, individuals, and workspaces safe. We have obtained masks for all our Direct Support Staff and the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for those who might support an individual with COVID -19 (coronavirus). We will continue to provide instructions for keeping you, the individual you support, and those around you safe. We must continue to practice social distancing to the extent we are able while keeping our cleaning and sanitizing process in place, including robust hand washing.

We are monitoring our worksites, and should someone you work directly with test positive for coronavirus; you will be notified immediately. If you or someone close to you is displaying coronavirus symptoms, ordered to test or tests positive, you must report this immediately to your supervisor and darryl.kimble@esmw.org - 314-394-7061. You should not report to work until you discuss your situation with Darryl.

Finally, people continue to share stories of meaningful moments with us each day. I am so proud to be able to share these mission moments with our community. Each of you is doing such important work. Those who turn to us, their families, friends, and the community as a whole are beyond grateful.

One such story recently shared comes to us from our autism services team. Here's what the mother of Christian has to say about her experience with Easterseals Midwest's respite supporter, Kyra: "On most days, Kyra comes to the house and works for 40 minutes with Christian. They have so much fun; he does not want her to leave. We appreciated her fantastic commitment and dedication to this family and so many others." Throughout social media, our message is clear -- we are Easterseals, and we are essential. If you have moments you would like to highlight on our Facebook and Instagram page; please send those to Laura.Checkett@esmw.org.
