COVID-19 Update (3/13/2020)

Team,

With the developing news regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the continued spread of Influenza A and B (flu) in the Midwest, I want to share with you just some of the precautions Easterseals Midwest takes every day to ensure the health and well-being of the individuals we support and the staff that support them.

We have always followed the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); we also partner with local and national agencies that focus specifically on healthcare for people with developmental disabilities.

The most important thing is to remember to practice universal precautions for yourself and those you are supporting, which aid in the prevention of illness.  As always, remember to:

  • Frequently wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Frequently clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.
  • Stay home and away from others when ill.

The following public resources are available:

  • Missouri coronavirus hotline: 877-435-8411
  • Illinois coronavirus hotline: 800-889-3931

Per our organizational policy, we have formed a 12-member coronavirus task force to address all questions, concerns, and/or policy updates surrounding the virus.

On Monday, March 16, 2020, we will send you a link to our COVID-19 website.  The site will include updated resources. In the meantime, please know that we continue to monitor this situation and no policy changes have been implemented.

Updates will be sent frequently and please check the website for FAQs that will be available on Monday, March 16 -  In the meantime if you have any questions please contact me.

Thank you,

Darryl Kimble
