COVID-19 Strategy Update (5/1/2021)

A Message from our CEO, Wendy Sullivan

Dear Friends,

As the world continues to reopen and regulations are beginning to soften, I am thrilled to report that more than 75% of our staff have received the Covid-19 vaccine, as have the vast majority of the people with disabilities we support in our community living program.

We are excited about what the future will bring over the coming months. We plan for some staff to return to our offices in a hybrid model, both working in our offices and remotely throughout the workweek, and we will resume business travel in the coming months. We are also looking forward to the return of in-person events. We will celebrate the 35th anniversary of our Par-Tee Dinner Auction and Tee-it-Up Golf Tournament in St. Louis on Sunday, September 19, and Monday, September 20, 2021, as well as our 18th annual Bowling for Autism tournament in Columbia this August.

Events like these raise money to support Easterseals and help us spread the word about our work. In fact, many donors first learn about Easterseals at one of our events - especially members of the President’s Circle.

The Easterseals President’s Circle was founded in 1995 and recognizes the generous individuals and families contributing $1,000 or more to Easterseals Midwest each year. Members can make this gift all at once or through several gifts over the year. Many choose to give monthly as part of our monthly sustainer program.

While we did see our membership dip in 2020 due to the pandemic, overall, the group continues to grow year over year, and it now includes 236 members from all over our territory. The President’s Circle has been a consistent and thriving source of support and has helped make some incredible things possible for the organization, such as our expansion into the state of Kansas; services to more than 25,000 families impacted by autism through our award-winning Parent Training Program; and our individual assistance program that helps people with disabilities leave state-run institutions, join the workforce, live independently, and contribute to our community’s diverse tapestry of people.

Contributions from the President’s Circle membership continue to help Easterseals take bold action to fulfill our mission, year after year. Thank you for being a part of this vital group.

2020 Impact Report

Last year definitely came with its challenges. It tested each of us in ways we may have never thought possible. During that time, the need for essential disability support had never been greater. Thanks to your compassion, support, and generosity throughout the year, we continue to be here for the people who count on us -- providing the highest quality of services while keeping health, safety, and wellness at the forefront of our efforts. Thank you!

See the impact your gifts made for people with disabilities during a year that brought so much hope to our staff, families, and the individuals we support.
