Connect & Protect (9/22/21)

Dear Team,

Welcome to this week’s edition of Easterseals Midwest’s Connect & Protect.

Today, were are expected to hear from Federal health officials recommending a booster shot for adults 65 and older or at high risk of severe COVID-19. It is suggested that the panel is also supporting boosters for healthcare and other front-line workers, like direct support professionals, who are at higher risk for occupational exposure. We’ll keep you posted on any developments.

If you are immunocompromised or have a weakened immune system, the CDC recommends that you receive a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to strengthen your protection against the Delta variant. You should speak with your doctor or healthcare provider about whether a third vaccine dose and other precautions are right for you.

Whether you have been vaccinated or not, please remember that all staff must provide the Human Resources Department with their current vaccination status by completing a survey on the ADP app and uploading your vaccination card, if applicable. This must be completed by September 30, 2021. This information will be kept in a confidential location separate from any employment records, only specific designated staff will have access to this information.

You can read some of the frequently asked questions we have received from your coworkers about the vaccine and reporting your vaccination status by clicking here.

If you still need access to the vaccine, text your zip code to 438829 or email vaccine@esmw.org for assistance.

This Week's Deep Dive Readings:

Why I Got Vaccinated: Kaitlyn Crites | Autism Specialist | Cape Girardeau

"I chose to get vaccinated to help protect myself and the individuals I work with. I work primarily with children who are not able to get vaccinated. By getting vaccinated, I was taking another step to try and keep them protected from COVID-19. Getting vaccinated is helping to ensure their services aren't interrupted!"

Remember, if you need access to the vaccine, text your zip code to 438829 or email vaccine@esmw.org for assistance.

Stay safe and healthy, and thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,
