Connect & Protect (9/15/21)

Dear Team,

Welcome to this week’s edition of Easterseals Midwest’s Connect & Protect.

First things first, I want to acknowledge that this is a very special week here at Easterseals. Direct Support Professionals Week is a week-long celebration to honor the people who are leading the way to full equity, inclusion, and access through life-changing disability and community services. One of the greatest ways we can live out our appreciation of you is to advocate for your safety, health, and well-being. We take this very seriously, which is why we’re such a fierce advocate for COVID vaccination. We’re also committed to communication, by sharing weekly vaccine updates with you as they develop.

Last week, President Biden announced an assortment of new COVID-19 mandates for healthcare providers. As of right now, these statements are merely announcements. But of course, Easterseals Midwest will comply with any regulations or laws should they be enacted. When we know more, we will share those updates with you. In the meantime, you can read more about this in this week’s Deep Dive Readings listed below.

Whether you have been vaccinated or not, please remember that all staff must provide the Human Resources Department with their current vaccination status by completing a survey on the ADP app and uploading your vaccination card, if applicable. This must be completed by September 30, 2021. This information will be kept in a confidential location separate from any employment records, only specific designated staff will have access to this information.

You can read some of the frequently asked questions we have received from your coworkers about the vaccine and reporting your vaccination status by clicking here.

If you still need access to the vaccine, text your zip code to 438829 or email vaccine@esmw.org for assistance.

This Week's Deep Dive Readings:

Why I Got Vaccinated: Tec Chapman | Chief Program Officer  | Western Region

“The reason I got vaccinated was out of respect for those around me, including my elderly parents and in-laws, the people we support, and my co-workers. The vaccine is grounded in data from clinical trials that it is a safe and effective.”

Remember, if you need access to the vaccine, text your zip code to 438829 or email vaccine@esmw.org for assistance.

Have a wonderful DSP Week everyone, you continue to have my gratitude for all you do.

Sincerely,
