Connect & Protect (8/25/21)

Dear Team,

Welcome to another edition of Easterseals Midwest’s Connect & Protect

As a part of this team, you are leading the way to full equity, inclusion, and access through life-changing disability and community services. This is why it’s so important to do everything we can to protect ourselves, our families, and each other by getting vaccinated for COVID-19.  Vaccines teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19 without having to get sick or put yourself and others at risk of severe illness or loss of life.

On Monday, the FDA announced full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for adults ages 16 and older. Full FDA approval takes longer than Emergency Use Authorization because more data needs to be processed and reviewed over a longer period of time. When a product is fully approved by the FDA, we can be assured that its recommendation is grounded in large amounts of scientific data.

If you still need access to the vaccine, text your zip code to 438829 or email vaccine@esmw.org for assistance. We want you to get vaccinated and if we can help you in the process, please let us know.

We will keep you posted as new information becomes available.

This Week's Deep Dive Readings:

Why I Got Vaccinated: Jennifer Rule, Community Living Specialist, Springfield

“I got the COVID vaccine because I wanted to be safe at home, work, and in my community. My parents are in their 80's and they both got vaccinated. I don't want to live in fear. The COVID illness has already killed so many people. I think getting the vaccine helps people all over the world, who want to do their part to eliminate COVID.”

Remember, if you need access to the vaccine, text your zip code to 438829 or email vaccine@esmw.org for assistance.

As always, thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,
