On Monday, October 24, Easter Seals, in partnership with Tony McGee, former Washington Redskin and host of the Pro Football Plus Live Show, hosted a Veteran Employment Workshop and live recording of his show at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. The workshop, which featured a panel from nearly 20 employers, was a valuable opportunity for veteran job-seekers to gain knowledge in their search for employment, resume-building, and submitting applications for federal employment. Nearly 100 veterans attended the event.

Special guests included host and former Redskins Tony McGee, Super Bowl Champion and 14-year NFL Veteran; Charles Mann, Easter Seals Honorary Board Member, four-time Pro Bowler, and three-time Super Bowl Champion; Dexter Manley, Pro Bowler, two-time Super Bowl Champion, and named one the 70 Greatest Redskins of all time; Ricky Ervins, Super Bowl Champion, and Gary Clark, four-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl Champion. The purpose of the partnership was to compare the challenges both recently separated veterans and recently separated professional football players face when seeking employment and reintegrating into the civilian workforce.

Tony McGee, widely known as Mac the Sack, has been partnering with charitable organizations for the past several years to provide college scholarships for high-school graduates, and food and other items of necessity for members of the community. Tony was a nominee for the National Football League Hall of Fame in 1994, not only being recognized for his remarkable football career, but for his dedication to give back to the community. The Pro Football Plus Show is also the longest running minority-owned sports talk show in the Washington, D.C. region.

The Easter Seals Veteran Employment Program is designed to connect employers with veterans and provide support services for all military service members, veterans, and their families. The goal of the program is to provide job training, counseling and placement services (including job readiness, literacy, and skill training), and to expedite the reintegration of homeless veterans into the workforce. Easter Seals is helping veterans develop skills for specific employment and eliminating barriers to successful employment.

The show will air on MASN (Mid Atlantic Sports Network) on Friday, October 28 at 10:30pm and Saturday, October 29 at 2:00am and 9:00am.
