Silver Spring, MD — Appointed by Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Grace Caulfield, Director of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic (Cohen Clinic) and Vice President at Easterseals DC MD VA, was confirmed to join the County’s Commission on Veterans Affairs on March 14.

"We are grateful that Grace Caulfield has joined our County’s Commission on Veteran’s Affairs,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Our Commission on Veteran’s Affairs is an important resource and advocate on behalf of the over 40,000 veterans currently living in Montgomery County. Grace’s insights as Director of the Cohen Clinic and Vice President at Easterseals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Commission. We thank her for her persistent dedication to the Veterans of our armed services and their families."

As a representative of the general public, Caulfield brings to the Commission her expertise in accessible veteran mental healthcare. In her role as the Cohen Clinic director, she has successfully worked with prominent veteran and military leaders to ensure that veterans receive high-quality, effective, and affordable behavioral healthcare.

“As a lifelong resident, I want to increase awareness about resources for veterans and their families in Montgomery County and even state-wide. It’s important that veterans access services, like mental healthcare, because without access they are less likely to follow through with seeking help,” says Caulfield. “I hope to be a voice for veterans so their needs are heard by the Commission on Veterans Affairs.”

Under Caulfield’s leadership, the Cohen Clinic at Easterseals makes it a priority for veterans to see a licensed clinician for the first time within two weeks of contacting the clinic. Many clinicians are veterans themselves and understand the importance of a fast response.

The clinic treats any person who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, regardless of role or discharge status. Families of veterans and active-duty members are also eligible.

In addition to the Cohen Clinic, Easterseals offers holistic services to veterans and military families, including civilian employment support.

Caulfield, LCPC, LPC (DC), LPC (VA), CAC-AD, holds a Master’s degree in counseling psychology and is a licensed professional counselor. She earned a Certified Associate Counselor, Alcohol and Drug credential through the Board of Professional Counselors of Maryland.
