Hagerstown Adult Day Services Given Boost to Hire Staff

Western Maryland Consortium Reemployment Grant Reduces Unemployment during the Pandemic

Silver Spring, MD — Easterseals DC MD VA announces a $20,785 reemployment grant award from the Western Maryland Consortium to hire more staff at its Adult Day Services center in Hagerstown, Maryland. The grant supplements the majority of hourly rates for the 12-week full-time employment of five new direct support professionals.

“We are grateful to the Western Maryland Consortium for helping us provide steady employment for new direct support staff,” says Carolyn Kaeser, Easterseals Director of Adult Day Services in Hagerstown. “Our staff are a valuable part of the daily and long-term wellbeing of our clients. We want to make sure staff feel secure in their employment at Easterseals.”

The Western Maryland Consortium Reemployment Grant, in partnership with the Washington County Department of Business Development, helps reemploy workers most affected by the economic and employment fallout of the coronavirus pandemic. “Community businesses across Western Maryland continue to be impacted by the pandemic, and grant programs such as the Reemployment Grant will give them more leverage to supplement new hire wages,” said Linda Spence, Business Specialist with the Washington County Department of Business Development, in an October 27, 2021, statement.
