Silver Spring, MD — Veterans on the road to self-sufficiency can turn to the Veteran Staffing Network (VSN) at Easterseals DC MD VA for employment support. Now, a recent $20,000 grant from Truist Financial Corporation is advancing the robust network of job seeker services offered by the VSN to veterans and military spouses.

Easterseals DC MD VA and Truist share the goal of building career pathways to help everyone thrive. Easterseals’ mission, in part, aims to expand professional opportunities for people with military backgrounds. The VSN at Easterseals and Truist are working together for the upward economic mobility of unemployed or underemployed veterans in the community.

“This grant from Truist is going directly to support our clients, helping them reach their career goals,” says David Muir, Senior Vice President of the Veteran Staffing Network. “Our career coaches are veterans or military spouses themselves, so they understand the difficult transition from military to civilian life. We appreciate Truist’s confidence in the VSN to help veterans achieve successful employment.”

The VSN – celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2023 – assists veterans and military spouses in finding meaningful career opportunities. Unparalleled job seeker services include one-on-one coaching sessions, our bi-weekly “Tuesday Talks” webinars, and the creation of the MyCareer Toolkit app to help develop career plans, resumes, interviewing skills, and more. VSN career coaches work with veteran talent to leverage their military experience for success in the civilian workforce. Working with our employer partners, VSN staff match each job seeker’s unique qualifications with the needs of the job. This client-centered approach means that clients don’t just find a job; the VSN moves veterans toward a fulfilling career path.

Truist’s funding has enabled 511 one-on-one sessions with a career coach and 81 job placements through the VSN.

”We’re very proud to support the important work of the Veteran Staffing Network at Easterseals,” said Truist’s Greater Washington Regional President Evelyn Lee. “This grant will help provide increased opportunities for the many dedicated veterans and military families who have given so much to our communities and country. It’s an outcome that aligns to Truist’s purpose, which is to inspire and build better lives and communities.”
