Silver Spring, MD — Easterseals DC MD VA today announced a $35,000 grant award from Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) to support the Easterseals military and veteran family mental health program at its Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic (The Cohen Clinic). The MLB and MLBPA Healthy Relationships Community Grant is a $3 million joint initiative to provide funding to organizations that advocate for positive relationship practices through critical services for vulnerable populations. The initiative includes a commitment to programs focused on mental health resiliency, which is a key objective of Easterseals DC MD VA’s work through the Cohen Clinic.

“We are so grateful to MLB and the MLBPA for this grant,” said Cohen Clinic Director Anneke Vandenbroek, Ph.D., ABPP. “It’s particularly gratifying that they cited our program outcomes and our commitment to positive relationship health. We take a holistic approach to treating veterans, service members, and their families, because we know that every member of a military family serves, in their own way.”

The Cohen Clinic at Easterseals DC MD VA provides high-quality and accessible mental health care to post-9/11 veterans, active-duty service members, their families, and their caregivers. Clients receive in-person and telehealth treatment, individually or as a family, through holistic, evidence-based therapies for behavioral health challenges including depression, post-traumatic stress, transitional challenges, and relationship and family difficulties.
