Candid Conversations: Balancing Self-Care, Career, and Childcare During a Pandemic

On July 14, 2020, we hosted a virtual Candid Conversations event about balancing self-care, career and childcare during COVID-19. During the webinar, our esteemed panel spoke about the many challenges we are currently facing: maintaining physical health and wellness; caring for children while working remotely full time; racial disparities in health care; the mental health struggles that result from social distancing; and the importance of staying home to save lives.

Since mid-March, Easterseals has prioritized the health and safety of our community, and we have adapted our services to provide virtual or safely distanced options to ensure that the families we serve receive the care they need. This includes the conversion of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic to 100% telehealth. This panel was a true testament to the ways we all can all safely support each other as a community.

We would like to thank our panelists for their time and valuable insights: Jon Horowitch, President and CEO, Easterseals DC MD VA; Dr. Millard D. Collins, Chair and Associate Professor of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Meharry Medical College; Brandon Luckett, Executive Vice President, EONE Benefit Solutions; Dr. Tracy Neal-Walden, Senior Vice President and Director, The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals; and Megan Scully, Senior Editor, CQ Roll Call and Easterseals Parent. The panel was Moderated by Darnell Burtin, Vice President of Development, Easterseals DC MD VA.
