Candid Conversations: Addressing the National Mental Health Crisis in the Age of COVID

On September 24th, we were pleased to host a virtual Candid Conversations event about mental health challenges from COVID-19, and the ways we can support each other during this difficult time. The simplest recommendation, shared by all, was to be there and reach out to your family, friends, co-workers, and community to ensure they know you care.

"We have a global mental health crisis that does not discriminate; and is not deterred by economic status, geographic location, race, gender, religion, sexuality, ability, or age. Therefore, it is imperative that we destigmatize seeking help and normal conversations regarding the resources available for self-care and wellness," said Jon Horowitch, President and CEO of Easterseals DC MD VA.

Jon was joined by: Dr. Mahdieh Bodaghi, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Children’s National Hospital; Eric Eversole, Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; and Dr. Diane Kern, Licensed Psychologist. This panel was moderated by Easterseals' own Dr. Anneke Vandenbroek, Director of The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals. The Cohen Clinic provides behavioral health support and services to veterans, their families, the families of active duty service members, and caregivers.
