Easter Seals Serving DC|MD|VA Respite Services Celebrate Valentine's Day at the Inter-Generational Center

respite

Saturday, February 4th, Easter Seals Respite Services hosted a fun-filled Valentine’s Day celebration at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. The event included all families of children with disabilities or special needs, children of wounded warriors, and other military families.

Nearly 40 children and participants attended the event, which included Valentine's Day crafts, cupcake making, and even a hands-on reptile show. Each child was paired with a volunteer to accompany them throughout the day. Volunteers included Easter Seals staff and several trained participants.

Parents of the children who attended the respite events are appreciative and complimentary of the relief the monthly Respite program provides. The monthly respite events are not only a time for the parents of wounded warrior and military families to receive much-needed "time off," but they are an opportunity for the families to connect and share in their experiences together.

Easter Seals Respite Services provide a range of support and enriching experiences for children with and without disabilities, from wounded warrior, military, and civilian families. For additional information about our Respite Services, please visit us HERE
