Love Is In the Air at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-generational Center in Silver Spring

respite

In February, Easter Seals Respite Services hosted its monthly respite event for military families at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inte-rgenerational Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. The theme of the event, love is in the air, was fitting, as the staff and volunteers provided plenty of hugs, sweets, and generosity to go around in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Nearly 25 children attended the event, and even more volunteers, with two special groups volunteering: St. John's Episcopal Church, and Terps for Service from the University of Maryland, College Park. At the monthly respite events, each child is paired with a trained volunteer or staff member to accompany him or her throughout the day. Parents of the children who attend the monthly respite events are extremely appreciative of the relief provided for their families.

The Easter Seals Respite Program provides a range of support and enriching experiences for children with and without disabilities, from wounded warrior, military, and civilian families.
