Egg Hunts, Soccer and More at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center

respite

Saturday, April 21, Easter Seals hosted our monthly respite event, Spring Is In the Air, at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center in Silver Spring. Several volunteers attended the event, and more than 20 children participated from both military and civilian families.

Two special groups of volunteers joined us for the event: The Comprehensive Medical Mentoring Program, a non-profit organization focused on mentoring minority high school and college students interested in pursuing medicine, as well as Terps for Service of the University of Maryland, College Park.

Each child was paired with a volunteer to accompany them throughout the day. Special events included easter egg hunts, spring arts and crafts, and a visit from Coach Pierre from Soccer Shots, who helped the children work on their soccer skills.

Easter Seals Respite Program provides a range of support and enriching experiences for children with and without disabilities, from wounded warrior, military, and civilian families. For more information about our Respite Services, please visit us HERE.
