The Easter Seals Serving DC|MD|VA Veteran Employment Program and Mainline Protective Services hosted a Security Employment Fair, Wednesday, January 18th, for veterans, military personnel, military spouses and homeless veterans seeking employment.

The workshop, held in the Richard & Rae Swirnow Center of Excellence and Training at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center in Silver Spring, was a valuable opportunity for job-seekers to search for security employment, submit applications, and even participate in formal interviews. Nearly 30 veterans attended the event.

The fair also featured booths from several security companies, including North American Security, Coastal International, Cogard Security, New Columbia Protective Services, and many more. Representatives from these companies shared with veterans some of the key factors employers are looking for when hiring new employees, conducted interviews, and spread useful information about their organizations. Several veterans were offered full-time positions during the event.

The Easter Seals Veteran Employment Program is designed to connect professionals with veterans and provide support services for all military service members, veterans, and their families. The goal of the program is to provide job training, counseling and placement services (including job readiness, literacy, and skill training), and to expedite the reintegration of homeless veterans into the workforce. Easter Seals is helping veterans develop skills for specific employment and eliminating barriers to successful employment.
