All of us at Easterseals are grateful for the life of Delegate Sheila Hixson and we join the community in mourning her passing. She was a passionate advocate for full inclusion of marginalized groups such as disabled people, veterans & military families, and low-income families. The esteem in which she was held by her colleagues was evident last year when Maryland legislators unanimously enacted The Sheila E. Hixson Behavioral Services Matching Grant Program for Service Members and Veterans, later signed by Governor Hogan. Delegate Hixson's passion for service will long resonate through the state.
