Assistive Technology Funded by Comcast Is Making A Big Difference For One Special Little Boy at Easter Seals

Easter Seals Serving DC | MD | VA is the recipient of the Comcast NBCUniversal Assistive Technology Grant Fund, which is designed to enhance successful programs for people with disabilities and special needs by providing assessment, training and support to address their long-term technology needs.

Meet Thiago, a three-year-old student at the Easter Seals Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Child Development Center in Washington, DC. Thiago loves building blocks, animals, and playing with his friends, but he also has Autism, which makes it very difficult for him to communicate with others. Because of the grant Easter Seals received from Comcast NBCUniversal, he now has access to an assistive technology device, the Accent 1000, which helps him build his communication skills. Watch the video here:

Thiago has made great strides since he began learning with the Accent 1000, and his therapists and teachers are excited about the progress he will make in the future. Easter Seals is committed to advancing opportunities for children and adults with disabilities or special needs, including wounded warriors, military personnel, veterans and their families. We thank Comcast for their continued support of our efforts and look forward to helping other children like Thiago grow.
