For nearly 100 years Easterseals has been making profound, positive differences in people's lives every day by providing a wide range of programs to support people of all ages and abilities. We have used our framework as a charitable organization serving people with disabilities and special needs to expand into assisting active duty military, veterans and their families.
Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals
We provide high-quality, accessible and integrated outpatient mental health care to veterans and family members. Our skilled clinicians and staff have been trained to work specifically with veterans and their families, and some are veterans themselves. The clinic is located in The Easter Seals Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center in Silver Spring, and serves clients throughout the region.
Veteran Staffing Network
Our dedicated team of career coaches and recruiters ensures long-term, meaningful employment for veterans, military spouses, National Guard and Reservists. We prepare candidates for employment through our proprietary e-learning and coaching curriculum. Our innovative staffing agency business model allows us to reinvest revenue from placement fees to provide crucial support services for veterans, wounded warriors and their families.
Homeless Veterans Reintegration Programs
Our team ensures that homeless veterans receive the support and services they need to address the more complex challenges they often face. Services include job training, counseling and placement services, as well as assistance with Veterans Administration benefits, health issues and housing. We help veterans build a foundation for finding and keeping long-term employoment.
Military Family Respite Program
We provide support for military families whose children have severe disabilities. Parents receive a much-needed break while their children receive individualized care. This gives everyone a chance to rest and replenish, which strengthens families and the community. The program also includes our "Little Warrior" families.
Little Warriors Child Development Program
Children of wounded warriors receive scholarships to attend one of our four Child Development Centers throughout the region. Our inclusive educational setting creates an environment where children of all abilities have the same opportunities for learning new skills, while helping their families find a community as they focus on the service member's recovery.
Adult Day Services
We provide person-centered care to veterans who have served our country from World War II to today's conflicts. Veterans of all ages who need assistance during the day find caring staff, companionship and a sense of community at our Adult Day Services centers. We partner with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide veterans the opportunity to attend Easterseals Adult Day Services twice a week.
