Adrien came to Easterseals New Jersey’s Millville Program Center seeking help to obtain employment in the community. She learned janitorial skills and advanced quickly through the program. Eventually, McDonald’s saw what a hard worker she was and hired her. However, this was only the first step towards her final goal. After working with Easterseals, she discovered her true calling.

“Just the fact that I was able to ride a bicycle makes me feel whole again,” says Sharon regarding the positive impact Easter Seals has had on her physical and mental wellbeing.
After years of battling mental illness resulting in multiple hospital stays, Sharon was referred to an Easter Seals NJ Behavioral Health Services group home in Warren County in 2011.

When young Angel first came to Easterseals in 2015 for employment training he was anxious and open about his goals, the first of which was to pass his drivers exam. He connected quickly with staff and was steadily on his way to acquiring his driver’s permit and achieving other ambitions on his list.

It’s never too late to have your life completely changed for the better. At 65 years old, homeless and unemployed, Easterseals NJ helped Eloisa do just that.
Eloisa, whose primary language is Spanish, had always desired to become fluent in English, and aspired to earn a certification in child care which she hoped would eventually lead to a full time job with health care benefits.

But as Spanish novelist Miguel de Unamuno tells us, “Isolation is the worst possible counselor.” That’s why we are so proud of Sharon, who found the inner strength to remove herself from a harmful situation and replace it with a better one.

Jeremey’s journey with Easterseals began in May of 2012 when he first arrived at one of our Behavioral Health Services group homes in Hunterdon County.
After battling an extensive past of drug addiction, multiple hospitalizations for mental illness and chemical dependence, and homelessness, when Jeremey first arrived he felt that one of his biggest challenges would be resisting his urges and triggers to use drugs. He was fearful of possible relapses and knew that the community would present challenges in maintaining his sobriety.
