The Voice Box

The Voice Box: A Motor Speech Lab is an exciting addition to the Speech-Language Department at Easter Seals DuPage & Fox Valley.  The Voice Box provides an all-inclusive approach to assess and treat children with voice, resonance, oral motor and articulation disorders.  The Voice Box offers a multimodal approach to treatment by utilizing visual and tactile feedback to achieve and reinforce desired speech, voice and resonance patterns.

Positive treatment outcomes are achieved using motivating games and progress is measured using objective data.  Equipment within The Voice Box also serves as a multifaceted assessment tool, effectively pairing clinical experience and keen perceptual skills with quantitative data to identify vocal pathologies.  To do this, The Voice Box uses innovative and cutting-edge equipment from top manufacturers in the field including: The Visi-Pitch, The SmartPalate, Speech Buddies, IOPI, Nasometer as well as the See-Scape and Oral & Nasal Listener.

Why Begin Here?

The Voice Box has been expertly designed and developed by our dedicated and knowledgeable staff as a system for our therapists to positively affect change in clients with oral motor, articulation, voice and resonance disorders through the use of technology coupled with clinical experience.  We are excited to share our knowledge, provide a unique clinical experience and enhance treatment outcomes through the use of this innovative technology.
