Parent Support Groups for Parents of Children with Disabilities

At Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, we believe that the whole family needs support and services. We offer a number of parent support groups for parents and family members of children with special needs.

Parents with Adults Group

This group meets the first Monday of the month at the Villa Park Center. The group is for any parents who have children 14 years or older who have transition questions.  For questions, please email Cara Long or call 630.620.4433.

Special Needs Dads Network

Are you a Dad of a Special Needs Child? The Special Needs Dads Network is a group of dads who meet once a month in Naperville. The vision of the group is to offer a forum in a casual setting for Dads of special needs children to meet others in similar situations, learn about different services provided and expand our professional networks. The group has occasional speakers to discuss various topics ie, special needs trusts, and therapy.

The meeting dates may change due to speaker and the groups availability so be sure to contact Matt Latourette at Matt.Latourette@Yahoo.com for the most current schedule.  NOTE: THE SPECIAL NEEDS DADS NETWORK IS NOT DIRECTLY AFFILIATED WITH EASTERSEALS DUPAGE & FOX VALLEY.

IEP Support

Need help with your IEP?  Dr. Meghan Burke from the University of Illinois has offered to meet with families to review and improve their child's IEP.  Dr. Burke has her PhD in Special Education - Severe Disabilities and offers a wealth of knowledge.  For more information or to sign up for a meeting with Dr. Burke, contact Cara Long.
