Check out these other Easterseals services that families may choose to provide care for their loved one as they take a break from caregiving:
This center based program is for adults 18 + who have physical disabilities. Seniors who are frail or elderly would qualify. Hours are 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily and transportation and meals are included. The staff nurse attends to medical needs while program coordinators provide a lively and stimulating environment with a choice of activities. Participants can come from 1 day to 5 days per week depending upon family needs. Many participants are short term as they recover from injury and illness, and this program allows them to continue to live at home while their caregiver benefits by being able to continue work or enjoy a break from caregiving. Offered at the Georgetown and New Castle locations.
If you are a person with disabilities and meet eligibility requirements, Easterseals will train you to become an employer so that you can hire your own caregiver or attendant. In some cases, you can even pay your own family members to provide the attendant care you need at home, work or school. Available throughout Delaware.
Don’t let the word “camp” mislead you! This historic but modern facility, located near Chestertown, Maryland, has been offering recreation and respite services to children (ages 6 – 21) and adults (age 21+) with all types of disabilities since 1954. Camp services come in many forms, including traditional residential summer camp (6 day sessions) June through August, Weekend Respite sessions from October through May, and Travel Trips throughout the year to popular destinations.
Camp activities depend on the season but include many outdoor and indoor activities. Many parents and caregivers have used Easterseals Camp Fairlee over the years to provide a highly specialized, accessible recreational adventure for their loved one while at the same time enjoying a period of respite where they take a vacation or do other activities. The services of Easterseals Camp Fairlee are equally available to all persons in all states.
