Located outside of beautiful Chestertown, Maryland, Easterseals Camp Fairlee has been providing recreation and respite for individuals age 6 and up since 1954. Camp Fairlee provides a safe and accessible camp experience where campers are challenged to discover their full potential, acquire new skills, and make new and lasting friendships while under the guidance of trained and qualified staff. While campers enjoy their time at Camp Fairlee, their families are able to take a much needed break from caregiving.
Because of steady growth and increased demand, we recently invested over $6.5 million to totally rebuild Easter Seals Camp Fairlee, including all new cabins, an updated health center, activity center and dining hall. In addition to modern, accessible facilities, we added new capacity to allow us to accommodate additional campers year-round.

Throughout the year, there are several different services to suit the recreation and respite needs (and budgets!) of participants and their families.
For the latest news, schedules and information about Camp Fairlee services sign up for our monthly enewsletter by emailing fairlee@esdel.organd noting your request in the subject line.
Traditional, residential summer camp runs from June through August. Activities are geared to age and interests of each individual and can include swimming, wall climbing, zip line, horseback riding, outdoor games, arts/crafts and more! Most sessions are six days long, Sunday to Friday. However, there are limited options for twelve-day sessions and five-day sessions. Also, participants are grouped with sessions for children from 6 – 21, and adults 21 +. For most sessions, there is a ratio of camp counselors to participants of roughly 1 counselor for every 2 – 3 participants. This ensures that the needs of every camp participant are fully met. In addition, a few sessions each summer are dedicated to children with Autism. During Autism sessions, the ratio is 1:1.
Offered during the summer, participants in the program reside at Camp Fairlee during the week, but activities involve a daily field trip to nearby points of interest including the seashore, state parks, zoos and other attractions in nearby cities such as Washington, Annapolis and Baltimore. The Youth Daily Adventure is for children ages 13 - 21, and The Adult Daily Adventure is geared for adults 21+.
During on site summer and respite sessions, professional chefs handle the special dietary needs of each participant. In addition, a nurse is always on site at the new health center and a physician is on call 24/7.

During the off season months of September through May, there are occasional respite weekends for the participants and their families. Weekends start on Friday evening and end on Sunday afternoons. Each weekend has its own theme depending on the month and season of the year and activities are geared accordingly. Most weekends are blended to accommodate children and adults, but some weekends are for children, some for adults, and some just for children with Autism.
Easterseals Fairlee Vacations allows adults 18 and over with developmental and physical challenges to achieve greater independence through travel experiences. Fairlee Vacations offer opportunities for personal growth, recreation and socialization through travel. Learn more here.
Participants must have a legal ID. A passport may be necessary on some trips. 2 wheelchairs will be allowed per trip. Participants must be able to transfer. We are not able to accommodate power wheelchairs at this time.
