Children's Services

Early Intervention

For over 50 years, Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio has been providing early childhood education programs meant to promote skill development for children with, or at risk for, developmental disabilities and delays.

Significant research has shown the earlier intervention occurs in a child’s life, the more success that child will experience.  By helping children with their cognitive, physical, emotional and social skills, early childhood education programs have demonstrated the ability to make postive impacts on the lives of children and families.

Our early childhood education program is designed to meet the needs of the children at their levels of ability.  A group-oriented, facility-based program is offered for children 12-36 months of age.  An individual plan is developed for each child and his/her family, outlining goals to be focused on over the course of the school year.  A variety of services help children achieve their goals.

Services include:
· Educational and therapeutic services
· Daily use of a fully accessible play yard and/or gross motor room
· Individual family service plans
· Transportation to those who could otherwise not attend
· In-home visits throughout the school year
· Transition to a preschool setting

Classroom size is limited to eight children with one certified teacher and teacher’s assistant per classroom.  Students also work with trained physical, occupational and speech therapists.

Chance to Dance

The mission of Chance to Dance is to make sure the students appreciate the art of movement through rhythmic ability and to use various music as well as imaginative play. We strive for our students to enjoy the class and develop a love for dance. These dance classes provide the opportunity for kids with disabilities a CHANCE to DANCE.

Classes are offered completely FREE to families. We provide the costumes, shoes, props, supplies, and music. In keeping with the tradition of dance studios, we have two recitals a year (winter and spring). Classes are on Mondays from 6:30 pm to 7:15 pm. Click here to check the schedule and signup.

Summer Day Camp

Easterseals offers TWO Summer Day Camp Options focused on providing a safe and caring environment throughout the summer for kids with and without disabilities, for the duration of the summer months.

We strive to help prevent the “summer slump,” when kids sometimes find themselves forgetting the school routine. We structure the day to be similar to a school schedule but in smaller time increments. Our camp days are filled with fun activities like arts and crafts, hands-on learning, group games, outdoor play, and self-directed playtime. This structured setting is designed to make sure that campers don't lose the progress they've made in school the previous year.

After School Program

Easterseals After School Program is FREE to qualifying families at Finland Elementary. Our students receive homework help, take part in physical fitness activities and enjoy a nutritious snack. This program is possible thanks to the partnership of Franklin County Commissioners and Franklin County Job and Family Services. The Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services (FCDJFS) partners with qualified organizations to operate beyond school youth programs in order to address the need for safe and constructive opportunities for Franklin County elementary school aged youth. Each day's routine is similar to a school schedule but in smaller time increments. STEM, reading, physical fitness, and nutrition activities are designed to make sure that the attendees of the program don't lose the progress they've made in school.
