Below are descriptions of the two types of baseball leagues we offer as well as other programs offered by Easterseals Miracle League of Michigan.

Original Non-Competitive League – Ages 4 and up

This is our Original, Non-Competitive League. Every player fields/hits and gets on base every inning and there are no outs. Kids love this Fun, Self Esteem Building league. Players must beat least 4 years old to participate and no baseball experience required. “Able-bodied” Buddies or family members are partnered with each player to assist and protect them during games.  Adaptive plastic bats and safety balls are used and no score is kept.

Non-Competitive leagues play one game per week on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday for 10 games. Thursday and Friday night games will be at 7:00pm Weekend games begin at 11:00am on Saturday and 12:00pm on Sunday.

The rules are simple:

  • Every player bats once each inning (each game has two innings)
  • All base runners are safe
  • Every player scores a run before the inning is over (last one up hits a home run)
  • Community volunteers serve as “buddies” to assist the players
  • Each team and each player wins every game

Competitive League – Ages 10 and up

This COMPETITIVE League is for players who have the ability to make plays and hit the ball WITHOUT assistance. No Buddies are allowed and players must be able to field, throw and hit for themselves. Although this league is coach-pitch, balls are pitched from the mound at a higher speed and hitters use metal bats. If a batter doesn’t make a hit after 10 pitches, they are ruled out.  Half innings end when 3 outs or five runs score.  Gave are four innings or 90 minutes.  Competitive teams play one game per week on either a Tuesday night at 7:00pm or on Saturday at 2:00pm.  Some coaches have additional practices and attendance in this league is important.

If a player has not played in this league before, they must be evaluated in person for safety reasons.  Score is kept and there are playoff games to determine a World Series Champion.

Bowling Program

Our bowling season begins the first Sunday in January and continues for 10-weeks at Nor-West Lanes in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Ball ramps and lane bumpers are provided to those needing them.  Registration fee includes 10-hours or lane usage and shoe rental, bowling t-shirt, player medal and weekly prizes.

Dance Program

Our Dance classes began as a pilot program in 2014 at Novi High School. Dancers and families loved the experience so a five-class dance program was created in the Fall of 2015.  Classes were held at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bloomfield Hills and currently at The Dance Shoppe in Waterford, Michigan.  Dancers were partnered with volunteer “buddy” dancers to assist them in learning their routine.

This program is designed to be a fun way to learn to dance and build social skills at the same time. This program has been well received by dancers, families and volunteers.
