Are you a parent or caregiver of a child who is interested in learning more about parenting techniques to best support your child's development? Easter Seals Blake Foundation provides parenting education groups utilizing the evidence-based Incredible Years curriculum. Incredible Years is considered one of the highest quality parenting education programs and is repeatedly cited, in a variety of reviews and studies, as the leading evidence-based parental training program. Topics that are covered in groups include: child-directed play, imaginative parenting, problem solving, academic coaching, and MORE!
ESBF offers parenting education in two ways. The first is for parents and caregivers of children in Pima County through FREE, community-based groups. This program is supported by First Things First, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, and several local comprehensive service providers. These groups are held at ESBF offices and other various sites throughout Pima County for the convenience of the participants. Food and fun incentives are also provided. Along with the universal Attentive curriculum, groups are also designed for parent and caregivers of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children on the Autism Spectrum or who have language delays. Groups in Spanish are also offered as needed. The second is for parents of children in Pima, Pinal, Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Yuma Counties who are involved in behavioral health services and/or DCS. To sign up for one of these groups to fulfill a case plan, speak with your caseworker. Groups include those for parents of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.
ESBF's Incredible Years program also offers Dinosaur School for children ages 4-8 who are AHCCCS eligible. Dinosaur School is a skill-building and school-readiness group that teaches children how to behave in a classroom, problem solve, manage their anger, and be a good friend.
