Little Leaguer

Mario - Stories of Hope The Campos family were elated to learn they were pregnant with their son, Mario. They excitedly prepared their lives for their new addition when they learned that their unborn son had spina bifida, a rare condition in which the spinal cord fails to develop or close while in the womb. According to statistics, only 7 out of every 10,000 newborns will be born with spina bifida and 95% of those born with it have no family history of the disability. Many medical professionals suggested that the Campos’ end the pregnancy, but they made the decision that not only would they give birth to their son, but they would raise him to be a happy, independent man.

Cassidy - Stories of Hope Cassidy was born nearly four months premature, weighing less than 2 pounds. She took on every hurdle placed in her way. Since she turned to Easterseals' Young Adults services, she has graduated high school and launched her own YouTube channel to help other kids with learning difficulties.

Miracle League of North Oakland Highlights BIG Personality

In press box On Saturdays at the Miracle League of North Oakland, Johnny and his teammates are the MVPs of the game. Johnny, who has Down Syndrome, gets to showcase his development and highlight his big personality, while playing the game he loves. “He is a ham and loves being the center of attention,” Johnny’s father, John said. “The Miracle League has allowed my son to work within a team and have a desire to learn.”

Orange shirt farm background smile Like any 12-year-old boy, Evan loves playing video games (Minecraft especially), the Dallas Cowboys, and Lebron James. Lindsey, Evan’s mother, said her son has a great sense of humor and loves to make people smile. Evan says that his favorite way to make people smile is by walking. “Evan loves to make us proud,” Lindsey said. “He knows that when we smile, we are proud of him.”

Ready to Take on the World!

Ariel, young girl ambassador, looking down and smiling Ariel is a sweet, young girl who loves to dance and sing, especially when that involves singing songs by her favorite group, BTS. She also enjoys watching countless episodes of Coco Melon and Gracie Corner. However, Ariel’s life didn’t always seem this simple. When Ariel was born prematurely at 24 weeks, her mother, Tia, explained that the doctors were unsure that young Ariel was going to make it.
