April 11, 2017

Easterseals Board Member, William “Bill” Short, was recently recognized for Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of Kent County. He was selected and nominated by Easterseals for his tireless advocacy for Easterseals Camp Fairlee and people with disabilities.

“Bill has shown himself as a true advocate for people with disabilities throughout Maryland and in Delaware,” Ken Sklenar, Easterseals President/CEO, said. “Through his marketing and promotional expertise, Bill brought attention to Camp Fairlee through events like WCTR’s Party in the Park and secured money for Camp Fairlee directional signage throughout the area.”

Short played a key role in Easterseals CAMPaign Fairlee by identifying resources and offering support for the modernization and expansion of the Camp Fairlee campus.

“I am grateful that Easterseals Camp Fairlee is a resource in our community to people with disabilities and their families who definitely need the support,” Short said. “Not only is Camp Fairlee important for families, it helps the camper become more independent and reach their full potential. Camp Fairlee gives people with disabilities confidence and courage that lasts a lifetime. Camp Fairlee campers inspire me.”
