President and Chief Executive Officer
Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago (Chicago)

Tim Muri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago, has thirty years of progressive management growth experience and success within the non-profit service provider sector. His day-to-day responsibilities include policy development and implementation, strategic planning, maintaining effective board and volunteer relations and overseeing legislative affairs.

Today, Muri’s dream is building the “one-of-a-kind” Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research in the Illinois Medical District. This landmark facility will offer students with autism a spectrum of services that includes individualized education services, medical assessments, nursing, behavior therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work services, art and music therapy, vocational training and community living.

Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago’s Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research will be the first in the nation to integrate education, cutting-edge, real-time research, training and independent living in a single campus facility. Designed from the inside-out, the one-of-a-kind facility will include several unique design elements specifically created for its students.

The Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research is considered an extension of local school districts and the goal for every student is to return to school and work in their home communities. As a research partner with the University of Illinois at Chicago, Easterseals will offer medical and scientific researchers a control group for testing the efficacy of emerging treatments and interventions that make a difference for young people living with autism spectrum disorder.

Muri began his career as a teacher in 1973, working for Easterseals as a school coordinator and teacher for children with disabilities in Altoona, Pennsylvania. There he was responsible for four multi-disciplinary pre-school programs for children with disabilities.

He received his bachelor's of science in education with a minor in humanities from Pennsylvania State University. In 1980, he was presented with the Outstanding Young Pennsylvanian award by the Pennsylvania and Altoona area Jaycees. He was also named Easterseals Executive of the Year in 1986 by the Pennsylvania Easterseals Executives Association.
