Early Childhood Education

Easterseals early childhood education programs provide individualized, high quality services to children with and without disabilities to help them develop and thrive. These programs are created to meet the specific educational, developmental, and emotional needs of each student. Easterseals staff, teachers, and therapists have extensive training and expertise in providing services to children with disabilities, in accordance with goals created through IEP (Individualized Education Program) teams supporting the student and family.

Head Start and Early Head Start Programs

Some Easterseals locations provide early childhood education services through Child Development Centers and/or Early Head Start and Head Start Programs. Early Head Start (ages 0-3) and Head Start (ages 3-5) promote school readiness and provide tools for every child to succeed, in addition to parental resources and support, at no cost for children of qualifying families.

Common services provided under Early Head Start and Head Start Programs include:

  • Early learning and development: Supporting children in developing social skills, emotional well-being, language and literacy skills, mathematics, and science concepts.
  • Health and physical development: These programs provide and encourage safe and dynamic environments that promote health and well-being. Referrals for medical, dental, and mental health services are often available to ensure the healthcare needs of the child are met.
  • Family well-being: Support is provided to enhance family well-being, achieve family goals, and strengthen parent-child relationships. Resources might include housing stability, food security, continuing education including access to technology, and financial literacy tools.
