Easterseals Honors Long-Tenured Direct Support Professionals

New Castle, DE – As part of the observance of the 75th anniversary of Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the organization is celebrating “Direct Support Professional Week” by recognizing stellar Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) with the longest tenure in serving people with disabilities, seniors and their families. The DSPs were identified from each program in Easterseals’ statewide locations. 

“We are recognizing this wonderful group of DSPs from each of our program locations for their longevity with Easterseals and their dedication to the people we serve. It is because of employees like the ones being recognized that Easterseals has a long history of being an indispensable resource for people with disabilities and their families,” Kenan Sklenar, Easterseals President/CEO, said. “Direct Support Professionals are a critical part of the lives of program participants and their families. We are so proud to recognize them, especially this week. I congratulate them all.”

DSPs being recognized this year for the dedication and passion they bring to their work and the people with disabilities and seniors are: Kim Edmonds (32 years - Supported Employment Services in Georgetown); Nicole Everett (21 years –Lifeskills program in Dover); Angie Ganges (22 years - Prevocational Services in Newark); Kristi Hughes, (16 years – Day Services for adults with intellectual disabilities in New Castle); and  Ebony Keaton (15 years -  Adult Day Services in Georgetown).

Direct Support Professional Recognition Week is held annually in September that honors the dedicated Direct Support Professional workforce and highlights the essential work done to support people with disabilities across the country so they can lead more independent lives. This year Direct Support Professional Recognition Week is observed September 10-16th.
