HOW TO STOCK AN EMERGENCY FOOD SHELF:
Ready to eat items: Soups, Beans, Tuna, Salmon, dried fruit, crackers and energy bars are some good examples of a variety you should keep on hand.
Liquids: Bottled water, at least one gallon of water per person per day. Other options are bottled juices, instant coffee and tea bags.
Medications: If you regularly take medications see how much you have on hand before a storm may hit. Also, check with your doctor on what to do if your medications require refrigeration. You may also want to take a look at your first aid kit at this time.
Toiletries: Pick up a pack of toilet paper, wet wipes, and hygiene supplies for your pantry.
Light Source: Flashlight with an extra pack of batteries or candles with extra matches, either way be able to provide a light source.
If you keep this suggested list in your pantry year round you will be able to “weather the storm” during an emergency.
