(Chicago, Illinois), December 12, 2017 – For the first time in the 15-year history of the WWE’s annual Tribute to the Troops primetime holiday variety special, the network will invite its nearly two million subscribers and its more than 800 million social media followers to support veterans programs offered by the United States Veterans Chamber of Commerce (USVCC) and Easterseals.

WWE subscribers and social followers can text VETS to 80077 from now through the airing of the December 14th Tribute to donate $10 to support programs and services of USVCC and Easterseals which help veterans and military families successfully transition to civilian life. Contributions can also be made on the site’s Tribute to the Troops donation page.

Tribute donations will support USVCC programs including the Department of Defense’s annual Warrior Games, an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans representing teams from all service branches. The Games leverage adaptive sports and athletic reconditioning to assure the successful recovery and reintegration of service members and veterans, highlighting the resiliency and spirit of service members and as well as their families and caregivers.

Easterseals, the nation’s leading nonprofit provider of services for people with disabilities, has been advocating for and responding to the needs of all generations of veterans since World War II, delivering solutions that veterans and military families need to access meaningful employment, healthcare, assistive technology, respite and caregiving support in their communities while leading advocacy efforts at the national and state levels to ensure that veterans receive the services and supports they need to attain their goals and full community participation. Tribute support will be awarded through a competitive grants program among Easterseals’ national network of affiliates delivering services which assure that veterans, their families and caregivers can live, learn, work and play in their communities.

“It is a privilege to honor our servicemen and women for their commitment and sacrifice to our nation,” said WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon. “Tribute to the Troops is our most meaningful show of the year, and we are proud to support the impactful work of the USVCC and Easterseals for our nation’s veterans through this Text-to-Give fundraising effort.”

This year’s online Tribute broadcast will also feature vignettes of veterans including Retired Army Staff Sergeant Isaac “Malik” Rios, Jr., and Retired Navy SEAL Captain Travis Schweitzer who share the impact which military service has made in their lives.
