Easter Seals Shop&Care is teaming up with Food Lion to raise money for individuals with disabilities through the purchase of Shop&Care products in Food Lion stores and customer donations at checkout.  With more than 100 manufacturers supporting the campaign, the proceeds from this event help children, families and adults with disabilities address life’s challenges and achieve personal goals.  Easter Seals, a national nonprofit organization, has partnered with Food Lion since 1991 and has raised more than $28 million to support Easter Seals services.

Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15, Food Lion shoppers may make a $1 donation during checkout.  Last year, shoppers overwhelmingly shared their support by contributing more than $2.3 million to the campaign.  To provide an extra incentive to shoppers who donate to Easter Seals at the register, shoppers will receive a coupon booklet from Proctor & Gamble and Kraft Foods worth $9.50 in money-saving coupons.  In addition, when shoppers redeem these special Shop&Care coupons, Proctor & Gamble and Kraft will make an additional donation to Easter Seals, up to $50,000 each.  Shoppers can also help raise funds for Easter Seals by purchasing products from General Mills, my essentials water and Unilever Breyer’s Ice Cream.  Each company will make a donation to Easter Seals when these specially-marked products are sold during the campaign.

“Food Lion is a proud supporter of Easter Seals and we value our longstanding partnership with this meaningful organization,” said Cathy Green Burns, President of Food Lion.  “We are honored to support this important program and its mission of providing help, hope and independence to children and adults living with disabilities.”

Easter Seals ensures all funds raised remains within the communities to benefit local residents living with disabilities.

“We are grateful to Food Lion family, and especially their customers, for making a difference in the lives of children, adults and families managing disabilities and mental health challenges,” said Connie L. Cochran, president and CEO of Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia.  “Our 21-year partnership is evidence that Food Lion is a great corporate citizen and is passionate about making a difference in local communities.  We are also honored that Food Lion ranks second among all contributing national corporate partners for their level of giving.”
