Military & Veteran Services

Easter Seals has been supporting all generations of veterans since World War II by working nationally and locally to break down barriers and connect individuals and organizations with easily accessible solutions veterans and military families need to access meaningful employment, education, and healthcare.

Military and Veterans Services

Philadelphia VA Medical Center - provides health care to Veterans living in the metropolitan Philadelphia area. Offers comprehensive surgical, medical and psychiatric care to include special emphasis programs, alcohol and drug dependence treatment, and rehabilitative care.

Veterans Crisis Line - Connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 Press 1, chat online or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Support for individuals who are deaf or hearing impaired is available.

Veterans Advisory Commission of Philadelphia - Provides Veterans with the information they need to ensure they receive all the benefits they rightfully deserve. Locates and refers veterans to the appropriate agency of the government, or social service agency, to provide them with the counseling or services they require.

Wounded Warrior Project - Provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members, and helps injured service members aid and assist each other.

DAV (Disabled American Veterans) - Provides free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining the full range of benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government.

Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network (GPVN) - A non-profit organization whose primary mission is three-fold: to help Veterans find work through career services programs/initiative, mentorships and networking; to offer Veteran Entrepreneurship Programs; and to educate employers in the greater Philadelphia area on the "business sense" of hiring Veterans. GPVN also offers Veteran Business Networking Events, Veteran Professional Development Events and Vet to Vet Volunteering opportunities.

Veterans Multi-Service Center - Offers Veteran Service Officers to help navigate the VA system and file claims, employment and training services, homeless Veterans services, supportive services for Veterans and families.

The Soldiers Project in Pennsylvania - Provides free, confidential psychologic counseling and support to military service members who have served or expect to serve in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, as well as their families and loved ones.

Military Assistance Project - Provides legal services for US Veterans to declare bankruptcy and obtain a fresh start.

Given an Hour - Provides free mental health services to US military personnel and loved ones affected by the current conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Military One Source - Free service providing referrals for education, relocation, parenting and stress. Provides a referral to a marriage counselor for at least 12 free sessions.

Liberty USO - Serves Philadelphia and Southern NJ - serving the needs of the active duty, National Guard and reserve military personnel and their families throughout Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.

Veterans of Foreign Wars - Find your local post to connect with fellow veterans of overseas conflicts.

American Legion - Find your local post to connect with fellow service members and veterans.

Philadelphia Veterans House - Gives homeless Veterans a chance to start over and become productive members of society. This is done by using military tools to achieve the civilian goals of finding a job and securing permanent housing. The program gives them the cultural capital to do that and reinvigorates the work ethic and discipline they had while serving our nation.

The Veterans Group - provides food, shelter, case management and supportive services to homeless Veterans. The Veterans Group works Closely with their neighbors to help the men bridge the gap from hospital to self-sufficient life.

Women Veterans Rock - A coalition of Women Veteran Organizations and Women Advocacy organizations supporting women veterans and military families in the areas of : housing, employment, education, financial stability, health and wellness.

Operation Homefront - Assists military families during difficult financial times by providing food assistance, auto and home repair, vision care, travel and transportation and financial assistance.

Make the Connection - Connect with stories of help and hope. Veterans and their loved ones talk about their experiences, challenges and recovery. Make connections and find resource.

For Military Families

Blue Star Families - Supports military families through the unique challenges of military service and asking the larger civilian population to help as well, connecting military families regardless of rank, branch of service or physical location, and empowering military family members to create the best personal and family life possible. Offers free entrance to art centers, museums, and exhibits for all active duty, National Guard and Reserve Military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day through the Blue Star Museums initiative.

Military Family Association - Offers military spouse scholarships, and camps for military kids, family retreats, and a special retreat program designed to support wounded service members and their families.

Operation: Military Kids - Supports children impacted by deployment. Connects military children with local resources in order to achieve a sense of community support and enhance their well-being.

Survivor Services

Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) - Provides immediate and long-term emotional help, hope and healing to all who are grieving the death of a loved one in military serve to America. provides peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, casework assistance and connections to community-based care.

Snowball Express - Serve the children of America's fallen military service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice since 9/11. Snowball Express creates a weekend of events to connect the children and surviving spouses of the fallen with others going through the same experience.
