Adapted Computers and Adapted Access

Woman using computer

After sustaining a spinal cord injury, Ms. Nordin was eager to return to her work as an accountant.  Easter Seals AT assisted her in the transition back to work by recommending equipment that she could use at home and at work such as an adjustable table, voice recognition software, microphone, typing aids, an adapted track ball and a wireless number pad.  Easter Seals worked with her insurer and employer to obtain the adaptations she needed and to teach her how to use the equipment.

As a student at Temple University, Mr. Ingram-Cady needed access to a computer that he could control with his voice, an adapted joy stick and special software with speech feedback to be able to complete his assignments. With the support of Easter Seals AT and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, he was able to acquire the equipment and learn how to use it to meet his educational and career objectives.
