At Easterseals, we believe that friendship, fun and play pave the way for a full life. We are proud to support opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to experience summer camp settings specifically designed to accommodate their individual needs. We host several summer day camps throughout northern Ohio allowing campers to meet new friends, develop new skills and have fun.
Easterseals recognizes that although camp is a wonderful experience, it might not be accessible to everyone due to cost, location, and/or special needs. Our Campership Program provides financial assistance to individuals with disabilities who would like to attend our Easterseals Alliance Day Camp or Camp Can. The program also provides assistance to year-round Easterseals' clients so they can choose a resident or day camp that is best suited to meet their needs.
Endorsed by the Academy of Pediatrics, Easterseals Kids Are Riding Safe (KARS) program is a community-based child passenger safety program that helps prevent disabilities and injuries by ensuring that infants and children are transported safely in approved car seats. For a small donation, we offer standard car seats for income-eligible families in Sandusky County. Families must complete an education program that focuses on the installation and use of car seats before receiving the car seat.
Special KARS is available to help families with children who cannot be secured in a conventional car seat because of size, injury, or disabilities. Car seats and restraints are available for children who weight at least 3 lbs., who have leg or full-body casts, who need additional support for the head or trunk, or who have a high activity level and cannot stay in a conventional seat.
Easterseals Information and Referral Services help individuals of all abilities, their friends and their families connect to Easter seals programs as well as other community resources.
