Walker continues to achieve goals thanks to Easterseals Milestones & Therapy Services

When Walker was born without a cerebellum - a part of the brain that helps to control balance, coordination and learning - doctors told his mother, Tina, that he may never sit up or speak.

Today, 5-year-old Walker is not only sitting up, he’s running, jumping, and talking a mile a minute.  “I was afraid that I’d never hear him say, ‘I love you,’ and now he’s saying it 15 times a day!” says Tina.

Tina credits much of Walker’s progress to the care and therapy he’s received at Easterseals Milestones the Easterseals Child Development Center.  “They have been incredible,” she says.

Easterseals Milestones is a fully inclusive early care and education program serving children of all abilities. Youngsters like Walker can receive the therapies they need onsite from Easterseals professionals, in the natural environment of the classroom or playground.

Ongoing multiple therapies have helped Walker with his speech, walking, and feeding skills.  Behavioral therapy helps him process information more efficiently and enhance his interaction with other children.

Now in the Pre-K program at Milestones, Walker is described as witty, cheerful, and bubbly.  “I can’t say enough about the patient and understanding staff at Milestones and Easterseals,” says Tina.  “We have high hopes about Walker’s future.  He simply doesn’t know how to give up.”
