Children and adults with and without disabilities enjoy all Easter Seals Iowa Camp Sunnyside has to offer including canoeing, an animal farm, horseback riding, archery, nature trails, the Variety Club Rec Center, an accessible indoor pool and the Meredith Tree House. At night campers sleep in new, air conditioned lodges. Sessions are held at Camp Sunnyside for campers age four and older. Week-long and day camps are offered during the summer. Camp Sunnyside is located at 401 NE 66th Ave. in Des Moines, IA 50313.
Programs offered include Weekend Respite, Emergency Respite, Weeklong Overnight Resident Camp (Adults), Weeklong Overnight Resident Camp (Youth), Children’s Day Camp, and Teen and Young Adult Day Camp.
Funding Accepted: Amerigroup, UnitedHealthcare, Fee for Service/HIPP Medicaid Waiver, Private Pay, Limited Scholarships are Available

AAC CHALLENGE CAMP, July 27, 2020 - July 31, 2020, will be a three-day opportunity for campers age 12 to 17, who utilize an Augmentative and/or Alternative Communication device to support their communication during the C7 Superhero Camp Week (July 27, 2020 - July 31, 2020)! During these three days, coaches will guide the camper’s specific goals and needs. Attend the full week, at a cost of $600, or attend the three-day AAC portion only (Tuesday - Thursday), at a cost of $300. The coaches will be supervised graduate students majoring in Speech-Language Pathology who will guide expressive language and critical thinking skills in an exciting camp environment!

Resident Camp: Adult: Ages 18 & Up, Youth: Ages 4-17
Clients will spend their days having fun swimming, horseback riding, doing arts and crafts and much, much more. At night, clients will reside in our air conditioned cabins or spend the evening camping out under the stars. All resident camp sessions are structured around weekly themes. Check in is Sunday afternoon between 2:00-4:00 p.m. Check out is Friday between 2:00-3:00 p.m. This program can be paid for with waiver services or private pay. Private Pay Cost: $600 per week

Supported Day Camp: Ages 6-12
Easter Seals Iowa Summer Supported Day Camp is designed to provide all the fun of daily camp activities while providing parents and caregivers a break. The program is a day program but provides higher ratios of supervision and skilled personal care. This is primarily a waiver and county funded program; private pay is also accepted. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Extended hours are available for this program. Private Pay Cost: $200 per week

Bridge Camp provides an integrated setting where children with and without disabilities learn and grow together. This day camp is designed for children who can be supported in a 1:8 ratio. Bridge Camp focuses on the structured activities Camp Sunnyside has to offer in an inclusive setting with all day campers. This camp is private pay only; this is not a waiver program. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Extended hours are available for this program. Private Pay Cost: $150 per week

CIT Camp: Ages 16+
The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is designed for campers ages 16+ who can be supported in a 1:10 ratio. It has designated counselors and focuses on the traditional activities of camp with additional activities structured around developing in our Counselor Qualities, Job Skills, Citizenship, and Adventure Specializations. CIT’s will assist in various camp activities, including; arts & crafts, sports & games, and evening programs. CIT’s will also be involved with the planning and hosting of our community dances, as well as having the opportunity to volunteer in the community during regularly scheduled camp weekends.
