Matthew Wins 2014 Thanksgiving Card Art Contest!

Matthew Thanksgiving Combo

Matthew, the winner of Easter Seals NJ’s 2014 Thanksgiving Card Art Contest, is a young man living with multiple intellectual disabilities, including Autism.

When he first began attending one of Easter Seals NJ's adult day programs four years ago, he had difficulty socializing and being out in the community, preferring instead to remain at the center. Over time, the staff worked with Matthew to become comfortable not only venturing out in his neighborhood, but participating in group activities and even volunteering.

In fact, this past March, he began regularly delivering Meals on Wheels to local community residents in need of a hot meal. Once fearful and withdrawn, Matthew is now open to meeting new people and is a positive influence in his community.

At Easter Seals, we believe everyone has something valuable to contribute to their community and Matthew is just one such example. Easter Seals New Jersey has been helping people with disabilities to live, learn, work and play in their communities with equality, dignity and independence since 1948.

Your support helps Easter Seals to positively impact the lives of people just like Matthew all throughout the year.
